2006 Saturn Ion

Originally introduced in 2003, the 2006 Saturn Ion continues the tradition of the series, with the Quad coupe and the Ion sedan for 2006. The Red Line edition of the series in 2004 saw the Ion Red Line quad coupe fitted with a super-charged V-4 engine that produced 205 horsepower, driving a five-speed manual gearbox, which is performance tuned for better efficiency.

This series also sees the addition of a new engine option for the 2006 Saturn Ion. A new 2.4 liter variable valve timing engine is available as an option that produces 170 hp and around 162 pounds-feet of torque, giving a whole new meaning to the Ion series. This year also sees the discontinuation of the Ion 1 sedan.

The Red Line is now accompanied by the Quad coupe, and the Ion 2 and Ion 3 sedans. All cars can seat five, while the coupe holds just four people. The center instrument panel is angled slightly towards the left to allow the driver better view of the horizon, and has been completely revamped this year with improved aesthetics and more storage space.
